Tangulia Mara Camp is a traditional tented safari camp situated on private land on the western boundary of the Mara Reserve, allowing easy access to game drive around the Musiara Marsh, the short grass plains, and Rhino Ridge, in the reserve or across the Mara River bridge into the Mara Triangle west of the river. Both areas have rich biodiversity and offer prime wildlife and big cat viewing; and, during the migration, ready access to some of the main river-crossing places.

The name tangulia means “to lead” and is at the core of the camp’s existence. With over twenty-five years of guiding visitors to the Mara, the owners Jackson Looseyia & Domenic Nchoe are more than qualified to give guests at truly authentic insight to Maasai culture, customs, beliefs and knowledge of the fauna and flora here. The large and open mess overlooks the Olotulo Murt salt lick, frequented by wildlife and leads down to the Mara River. The 6 tents are shaded under a canopy of trees and are built on raised floors of Talek flat stone with a lovely verandah. Each tent has a double and single bed with an attached ensuite bathroom complete with shower, sink and toilet.

Activities include game drives, both day and night, to see the wildlife and beauty of the Masai Mara reserve. Also offered are guided walks on the slopes of the escarpment outside the reserve, and experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the nearby village are great attractions for guests.

This is the unspoiled Cape as Arthur Elliott photographed it. Only an hour’s drive from Cape Town, Boschendal Farms is ideal for historic or wineland getaways and romantic weekends. Each cottage has its own fireplace and small kitchen, while the Boschendal restaurant and Deli are within walking distance. The manor house, garden, farm, estate and mountains are all there for you to enjoy.

With privileged access to the entire farm, guests staying in the cottages will be able to savor the best of farm living. Choose to join farm and history tours, explore the estate on foot following trails taking you through orchards and mountain fynbos, stopping off to pick pears, plums and citrus fruits depending on the season. There are mountain biking trails, walking trails, caves to explore, wine tasting and cellar tours, trout fishing and swimming in the dams – and plenty of opportunity to sit and read, relax and generally take in the goodness of life.

Dining options include eating at the Werf Restaurant, Farm Shop & Deli, Rhone Homestead or picnic area; having breakfast, lunch or dinner baskets brought to your cottage; or picking up some fresh farm produce at the deli and preparing it at the cottage.
