The Palmerium is situated on the shores of Lake Ampitabe in the Palmarium Reserve. The Reserve is known locally as "Ankanin'ny Nofy," meaning dream nest. It is located on the East coast of Madagascar. 150 minutes from Tamatave away, the Palmarium is accessible only by a boat ride along the Pangalanes Canal.
Lemurs of all types are there to welcome you to the lodge. There are eleven palm-thatched bungalows with shared or private verandas and en suite bathroooms.
Accompanied by your guide, during a two hours stroll, you may discover this island and approach all its' species. There are about 10 different lemur species living in complete freedom here. Indri, Sifaka, Coronatus, Varecia, Variegata, Propitheques, Aye Aye, etc. As well here there is outstanding flora (orchids, carnivorous plants, granadilla wood, mahoganies, voyager trees) and the most beautiful and rarest Madagascan palm trees (Dypsis, Ravenea, Orania and also Voanioala and Lemurophoenix).
