This adventure begins with the train’s departure from Rovos Rail Station in Victoria Falls. Depart the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River where your journey began. The surrounding areas offer travelers many recreational opportunities including cruises, whitewater rafting as well as superb game viewing and photo safaris.
Travel along one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line – 114km – before traversing Hwange National Park, a rich and diverse wildlife sanctuary where a game drive excursion is enjoyed.

Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and Limpopo River towards Bulawayo, second city of Zimbabwe, capital of Matabeleland and industrial capital of the country. Enjoy a game drive (4-night journey only) in Matobo National Park, a World Heritage Site with bushmen caves, rock art and dramatic granite hills. It is also the site of Cecil John Rhodes’ grave atop the summit of Malindidzimu – ‘hill of benevolent spirits’ with a ‘view of the world’.

Your journey ends with a trip through Warmbaths (Bela-Bela), so named for its mineral waters, and Nylstroom (Modimolle), christened by the Voortrekkers as the source of the Nile River as the town’s river happened to be north-flowing.

MCH is a canvas tented camp that embodies authentic safari style, yet has the added luxuries that make it a signature ‘safari for the soul’ experience. MCH offers family or friend groups a private and intimate bush getaway, perfect for extended stays. A proudly fully solar powered and self-contained camp, MCH has its own team of staff, game drive vehicle and guide for safari.

Perched on a kopje (little hill), you can revel in panoramic views of the wild Makalali and Drakensberg Mountains beyond. The four tents offer air-conditioning and WiFi. They are fully en-suite with sumptuous bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers. Each features a well-stocked bar and indoor lounge that flows outside onto a private deck.

After the morning and evening safari activities, you can laze by the pool, be pampered at the MCH Massage Sala or snuggle up with a good book by the library fireplace. Fulfil your safari dreams with twice daily game drives led by experienced and knowledgeable guides. In addition to the Big 5 (elephant, leopard, rhino, buffalo and lion), look out for cheetah, spotted hyenas, wild dogs, hippos, crocodiles, diverse plains animals, and colourful birdlife. A private Sleep Out Deck experience awaits the adventurous too. The main camp offers indoor and outdoor dining areas, along with the MCH Bush Boma and fire-pit designed to pair with delicious pre-dinner drinks.
